Dissipate, 2006.

tape, plastic. dimensions variable.

Dissipate was constructed and installed in New Buffalo, Michigan in the former home and studio of artist Roger Brown.  Once his refuge from Chicago, this modernist glass and steel residence is now preserved by The School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a faculty retreat.  Accepting a generous invitation from Joan Livingstone, I lived and worked here for two weeks in the spring of 2006.  Situated between the wilderness of the Great Lakes and the simplicity of the International Style, Dissipate is a conflation of the materials, structures and patterns found in these disparate environments.
